Who can apply?
The mentoring program at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) aims to promote equal opportunities for women in academia, with the goal of ensuring their long-term integration into the academic system. MLU’s mentoring programs are therefore exclusively aimed at women researchers in the qualification phase.
Female students and early-career researchers from all disciplines at MLU may apply as mentees:
- students (MLU-MentoringSTART)
- Doctoral candidates at the beginning of their PhD (MLU-MentoringSTART)
- Doctoral candidates in an advanced stage of their PhD (MLU-MentoringGO)
- Postdoctoral researchers at the beginning of their postdoc phase (MLU-MentoringGO)
- Habilitation candidates in an advanced stage of their qualification (UNIBUND-Mentoring)
- Junior research group leaders (UNIBUND-Mentoring)
When applying, you may choose from different mentoring programs depending on your individual career path and current academic qualification phase. Participation in the mentoring program is possible at various stages throughout the qualification process. The different modules can be combined, but this is not a requirement.
Women researchers who wish to take part in the mentoring program should be aiming for a (scientific) leadership position and be motivated to actively shape their career path. In addition to commitment and motivation, openness to constructive feedback and willingness to engage actively in the program are expected.
Applying to one of the mentoring programs does not require prior participation in any other module. Participation is also possible during parental leave or when caring for relatives (leave of absence). The modular structure of the program supports a smooth re-entry, for example after parental leave.
Application
The number of mentees admitted per year into each module of the Mentoring Programme, is limited. The mentoring commission reviews applications and makes recommendations about the intake into the Mentoring Programme. The selection is made in accordance with fixed selection criteria for each module applied for.
Application period/application deadline
The application deadline is October 31 each year.
Membership of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg (according to §3, 1.-7 of the constitution) is a requirement for application and participation.
