MLU-MentoringGO

The MLU MentoringGO Program serves as a targeted bridge during the transition to the establishment phase of an academic career. It addresses key challenges that arise particularly in the early postdoctoral stage, especially regarding the balance between research, teaching, and organizational responsibilities.

Through its modular, diversity-sensitive, and competence-oriented workshops, the program offers participants a structured environment for the development of essential communication and leadership skills. The three core areas of competence – reflective skills, communication skills, and leadership skills – have been specifically selected based on the needs identified in the evaluations of previous program participants.

In combination with the individual mentoring relationship (one-to-one mentoring), the program supports both professional self-assessment and strategic positioning on the path toward a professorship or a leadership role in academia.

The program is complemented by a mentor qualification workshop, which encourages reflection on one's own role within the academic system and promotes the development of a long-term commitment as a mentor.

Tandem mentoring (one-to-one mentoring)

The accompanying one-to-one mentoring (optionally in the form of same-gender mentoring) provides individual support to participating postdoctoral researchers in planning their academic careers and making strategic decisions. Mentors can be freely chosen and may come from Central Germany, from across Germany, or from abroad. The mentoring process is tailored to individual needs and designed flexibly. National and international mentoring relationships are conducted in a digital format.
